The collapse of parking in Nueva Montaña is settled without victims

A children's playground has sunk this morning over the underground parking of a residential complex located in Nueva Montaña, on Tomás and Valiente street in Santander, without causing any personal damage, although substantial materials have occurred.

This is a community garage, with about 500 seats, of which a hundred would have been affected, promoted by the public company Gesvican between 2004 and 2006.

The weight of the land in the playground could be the cause of the sinking, although it will be technicians of the Santander City Council and the Government of Cantabria who determine the causes of the collapse.

This has been explained by the Minister of Public Works, José Luis Gochicoa, and the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, who has indicated that the homes in the area would not be in danger although it is also something that must be determined by technical reports. Both have assured that their priority is "to give a solution to the problem" and that the neighbors recover their environment "as soon as possible". Santander Firefighters are propping up the affected area.

The regional president, Miguel Ángel Revilla; The vice president, Pablo Zuloaga, and the Minister of the Presidency and Interior, Paula Fernández Viaña, responsible for the Civil Protection area, have also approached the scene to verify the extent of the event.
