Inauguration of the exhibition Miguel Delibes illustrator. The drawings of The Road in the Adult Education Center "Green Schools" (Enrique Gran Street s / n). The event will be attended by Elisa Delibes de Castro, daughter of Miguel Delibes and president of the Board of Trustees of the Miguel Delibes Foundation, and Javier Ortega , director of the Miguel Delibes Foundation.

It is little known that in 1941, Miguel Delibes' first work in El Norte de Castilla, the Valladolid newspaper to which he was linked all his life and of which he was director between 1959 and 1963, was that of a cartoonist. Of the twenty-one drawings that can be seen in this exhibition, twenty were made by Delibes for an American edition of The Road that was published in 1960. Shortly thereafter, I would add a new illustration - number six of this exhibition - for the edition of the novel published in London in 1963.

The illustrations that the author made for The Road are characterized by their clean and safe line, and by a certain "naive" air that fits perfectly with the content of a novel that features a child, Daniel, the Mochuelo, who Remember experiences, games and pranks with your childhood friends.

The main objective of this exhibition is to show this little known facet of the Valladolid writer , the artist or, more exactly, "illustrator" of his own work. To each one of the drawings that Miguel Delibes made for El camino is accompanied by the passage of the novel he refers to. The exhibition is owned by the Miguel Delibes Foundation, which gives it to CEPA "Green Schools" until October 30, on the occasion of the commemoration of the centenary of the birth of the writer.
